Temp files in home directory

I have switched evolution to start caching a local copy of my exchange mailbox.  When I go into my home directory I see hundreds of temporary files.  They appear to be attachments to all of the e-mail messages in my mailbox.  Is there any way to tell evolution to put these files somewhere else?

There isnt. But all the files would anyway be just under .evolution for
you.

All of the e-mail files were listed under .evolution until I started caching a local copy of my mailbox.  This started the flood of temp files in the root of /home/user.  Is there no way to move these to .evolution?  If not I'll have to disable the local caching mode.

There are literally hundreds of documents just like this that are filling up my home/user directory.  This happens when I am caching a local copy of my exchange mailbox.  Thanks!

Can you check the contents of the directory
.evolution/mail/exchange/<user@server>/personal/subfolders/Inbox/cache ?

Thank you for your assistance with this issue.  I checked the folder you mentioned and I see multiple folders with two character names:

10
11
17
2b

Some of these are empty and others have files in them.  The temporary files that are in /home/user/ are attachments from all over my mailbox.  They are not only files that are in the inbox.  I see attachments from e-mail that has been filed away in subfolders.  Thanks!
